Church of Jesus Christ (non-Mormon), Khabarovsk, Russia. With more than 400 members to date, this evangelical charismatic church is exploding in growth – but the congregation has no building of its own. The church is currently renting a building for US$4,000 a month without a lease. The members have outgrown this building and continue to renovate it, but every time they do, the landlord increases the rent. We are tentatively scheduled to begin construction on the new building – which will hold 1,000 people – in the summer of 2005 (we cannot build there in the winter months). Local materials, including timber, will be used exclusively. The biggest obstacle faced by the construction crew is obtaining approval to build. The local officials are former Communist Party members and they are not friendly to the church. Please pray for them. God is using this church to grow His kingdom in Russia, and it has already started dozens of "daughter" churches in Far East Russia.
